Episode 86 - Transform the Angry Space

In this robotic episode, our heroes talk Transformers, angry clients, and rehearsal spaces. James gets schooled by a retiree, Joey talks about favoritism, and they discuss MIDI instruments and cient tracks. Certainly there will be some classic ambiance. 

Episode 85 - Artificial Creative Control

In this doppleganged episode, our heroes talk room acoustic differences, artificial intelligence, and songwriters who cling to their creatively controlled CRAP!! Joey Complains about how cold the studio, James is baffled by a confused patron, and an alternate reality Joey is discussed.  This is NOT a trendy episode.  Artists, OPEN YOUR DAMN MINDS!!!

Episode 84 - Ware the Mind Games

In this underacted episode, our heroes talk video game studios, the importance of sound design in the gaming process, and Joey's music store debt.  James talks about breaking gutiars, Joey rants about over-priced equipment, and they dable on guitar pedals.  Too many topics to ramble through.  

Episode 83 - Monitor the Unlisted

In this pre-licked episode, our heroes continue their list of "found" recording tips.  They debate listening volumes, monitor selections, and where musicians should listen to their mixes.  Joey deals with his old man issues, and James slurps through coffee with slurred commentary.  Lots of puppy love in this one, folks.  Also, this was the last episode of the year with Mary Lee, as she returns to college for the winter. 

Episode 82 - Plug In The List

In this connected episode, our heroes explore DAW plugins, computer limtations, and how musicians should prepare for a recording session.  James spreads false info about fancy toys, Joey talks about shaming in class, and they discuss the value of console upgrades.  And there's a list.  At least a partial list.  Not enough time for an entire list.  Not the way these two stay on topic.

Episode 81 - The New Robot

In this assembled episode, our heroes talk computers, assembly problems, and how to save money on purple shockmounts.  Joey argues why pop filters don't filter out useable high frequencies, James encourages Joey to work with tape, and they scan through other studio websites.  Artificial lack or intelligence is evident, throughout.  

Episode 80 - Chain the Master Dynamics

In this responsive episode, our heroes are joined by Glen Allen to talk dynamic EQs, mastering chains, and living where you work. Glen talks about possibly building a new studio, Joey explains his favorite plugin bundle, and James talks, a lot.  Glen shouts out to "Young Medicine" twice... forgetting he did it already.  

Episode 79 - Expensive Parallel Mopping

In this specialized episode, our heroes talk about why cheap keeps up with expensive, how specializations can help a career, and the "Blue Screen of Death." Joey Talks about charging more for projects he doesn't want to work on, James talks about his new magazine subscription, and they both try to sell Joey's guitar. No mops were harmed in the recording of this episode... though they were certainly missed.  

 

Episode 78 - Start The Podcast

In this false starting episode, our heroes are joined by Katrina Griffiths (co-host of @veritypodcast & @xanister on Twitter) to talk about her new podcast, Start The Music! (@startmusicpod) where she dives into where music begins, BEFORE the rest of us hear it.  James steers the conversation into the idea of "hate" in art, Joey insists on "taking the money," and they come to the conclusion that censorship is tricky.  Of note, Mary Lee piped up afterwards with a warning about the legal ramifications of the line where art crosses into hate...  but it was after the group was cut off by the hour time limit, which is already longer than these hosts should ever talk.

Episode 77 - New Jazz Career Goals

In this freshly oriented episode, our heroes are joined by Jazz Matthews of Dog Rump Creek Music to talk about what happens AFTER the recording studio.  Lessons learned, measuring success, and the division of roles are discussed, while James rants politics, Joey comments on social structure, and the group entertain their audience of Mary, Taelor, and Pepper the pup.  Also, don't forget the cliffhanger...
